Caltrans officials are warning drivers to expect traffic slowdowns and perhaps extended backups on Highway 50 in Sacramento and West Sacramento this weekend due to construction-related lane closures. Lanes also will be closed at night this weekend and early next week on Interstate 5 south of Sacramento to allow for removal of an old overpass. Crews, which closed several lanes in both directions on Highway 50 Friday night, may have only two lanes open at many points during the weekend. The full freeway should be reopened by 5 a.m. Monday, said Dennis Keaton, state Department of Transportation spokesman.
