In Chico, Calif., the Highway 99/Butte Creek Bridge Project was a $3.7 million project involving reconstructing the bridge over Butte Creek including the demolition of the existing northbound bridge. The new bridge constructed is 324’ in total length and 41’-10” wide with a volume of 2,135 cubic yards. Demolition of the existing bridge of similar dimensions required extensive planning and coordination to minimize disturbance and environmental issues.
