      Myers & Sons Construction – Sacramento, California

      Bring your skills and knowledge of human resources to a company with a longstanding legacy in the Sacramento area, where you are supporting a team that builds the State’s infrastructure.
      Make a difference, gain exposure to new human resources challenges (including international candidate work visas and internship program) and work as part of a small team, with the support of an HR Generalist.

      Your opportunity: Manager of Human Resources (HR)

      Manager of Human Resources (HR) – Your Job Duties:
      You will oversee all of the HR function for the company, including:

      Oversight & Leadership
      • Work in collaboration with the HR Generalist, overseeing her work and assignments and providing support and back up as needed
      • Oversee risk management / third party benefits and 401k retirement plan TPA

      Employee Relations / Labor Relations
      • Ensure adherence to wage and hour laws, compliance requirements and union agreement requirements and any union grievances, should they arise
      • Provide support to, and centralize point of contact, for matters related to workers compensation claims, investigations and audits
      • Assist with employee matters including leave of absence/maternity leaves, benefits, firm policies, wage and hour questions, professional licensure questions, entering time, expense
      reimbursements

      Human Resources Compliance
      • Handbook update – changes communicated to team and updating annual handbook
      • Annual compliance trainings required (harassment prevention) – schedule training and make sure everyone is up to date with training / ongoing compliance with training
      • Ensuring ongoing compliance with HR matters (ie: labor law posters, wage and hour matters, EEOC)
      • Maintain up to date on ongoing HR compliance requirements, researching and communicating relevant changes to management

      Recruitment
      • Lead the company internship program – coordinate on-site career fair events, resume management, contact with candidates, recruitment of interns for the internship program
      • Monitor job postings and initial review of candidates / share with the hiring managers
      • Work with labor attorney regarding immigration documents for international candidates
      • Administer offer letter and pre-hire screenings, candidate first day items

      Manager of Human Resources (HR) – Required Skills, Experience & Fit with Our Team
      You Have:

      • Previous experience and a well-rounded knowledge of human resource (HR) including employee relations and compliance matters
      • Possess a strong Emotional I.Q. (“E.Q.”) – you work well with many different personality types and can support both craft labor and the executive team
      • You bring options, ideas and solutions to human resources situations

      Manager of Human Resources (HR) – Desired, Not Required
      • Human Resources certification (PHR / SPHR / SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP or related)
      • Knowledge of union labor relations, union contracts, or prior experience in a labor relations role
      • Prior experience with international work visas / basic working knowledge of H1 and other international work visas
      • Prior experience overseeing the recruitment functions within a company as part of your human resources duties

      This role is based out of our office in Sacramento and is 100% in office role.

      Compensation $105,000 to $120,000 base salary plus incentive bonus potential.

We are not your run of the mill construction company, we are constantly challenging our people to be their best and give them a variety of projects to estimate with real collaboration among coworkers. This person will work closely with the Chief Estimator, Division Manager as well as ownership to ensure that the project are estimated correctly and the work is performed in an efficient manner. This person must be hard working and detail oriented. We are looking for a person that is capable of thinking outside the box, understands multi staged construction projects.
      Responsibilities

      • Provide full estimating services on large, complex treatment plant and heavy civil construction projects.
      • Preparation of project estimates to ensure all factors are properly considered, priced, and included in the estimate summary.
      • Site visits and investigations.
      • Conducting constructability studies.
      • Researching of services for methods, costs and construction techniques.

      Required Qualifications
      • 5 plus years construction experience with at least 3 years of estimating
      • Ability to communicate effective

      We are currently looking for a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator with experience estimating highway, county and city projects. This person will be heavy involved in our alternative delivery as well as hard bid estimating efforts in California and Colorado.

The ideal candidate would have experience estimating roadway, underground, precast bridges and other concrete structures.
