Carancho PS Expansion and Improvement
June 27, 2025
The project involves enhancing the capacity and reliability of the existing Carancho Pump Station. The work includes replacing one existing pump with a new 300 HP vertical turbine pump, installing two additional 300 HP vertical turbine pumps in the spare pump cans, and reusing one existing 350 HP pump to achieve a firm pumping capacity of 4,200 gallons per minute (defined as three pumps operating with one on standby). The scope also includes construction of a new suction pipeline header, isolation valves, individual pump suction and discharge lines with associated check and isolation valves, and all related appurtenances.
Additional work includes installing approximately 500 linear feet of new 24-inch diameter cement mortar lined and coated steel pipeline within the concrete driveway, a temporary bypass pipeline, and removal of the existing 12-inch discharge pipeline. Two new surge tanks, an air compressor, and associated piping and equipment will be installed, along with demolition of the existing surge tank. Electrical upgrades include installation of a new 1,250 kW generator, discharge-side flow meter, controls, conduits, wiring, antenna, and transformer pad. The project also includes demolition of two existing steel tanks and various site improvements necessary to deliver a complete and fully functional pump station, in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and all applicable technical and administrative requirements.
