Pacific Palisades Emergency

June 27, 2025

Job Number: 0455

When unstable coastal bluffs threatened Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Pacific Palisades, Caltrans initiated emergency repairs to protect motorists and stabilize critical infrastructure. Myers and Sons Construction mobilized specialized crews and equipment to remove unstable rock and soil, install anchored wire mesh and rockfall drapery, and apply structural shotcrete. Work also included demolishing deteriorated catchment walls, constructing reinforced retaining structures, and restoring hillside and roadside drainage channels.

With unstable slopes directly above an active highway, Myers established K-Rail-protected work zones and a controlled rockfall catchment area while maintaining traffic along PCH. Our field team sequenced high-angle slope scaling, mesh installation, shotcrete application, and retaining wall reconstruction around limited access, equipment positioning, and motorist protection. Integrated drainage improvements relieved hydrostatic pressure, managed runoff, and strengthened long-term slope stability.

Myers coordinated around-the-clock operations, crews, equipment, and materials to complete structural repairs ahead of schedule with zero reported safety incidents.
