LAWA Utilities & Enabling Projects
July 27, 2018Job Number: 0160
Myers & Sons Construction, in joint venture with Griffith Company, was awarded a $300 million, three-year CMGC contract by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to deliver design-build and construction services supporting the LAX Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP). The project includes utility relocations, facility demolition, roadway improvements, and enabling infrastructure to support the Automated People Mover (APM), Consolidated Rent-A-Car (CONRAC) facility, Intermodal Transportation Facilities (ITF), and other adjacent developments. The Myers & Sons/Griffith JV (MGJV) operates under both CMAR and design-build delivery methods, with work issued through Component Guaranteed Maximum Price (CGMP) agreements and task orders. In collaboration with T.Y. Lin International for design services, MGJV rapidly mobilized a co-located team to perform condition assessments, field surveys, geotechnical investigations, and utility potholing. Within months, the team advanced design coordination, construction phasing, scheduling, and cost estimating. To date, MGJV has successfully delivered over 25 design and construction packages, working closely with a wide range of stakeholders including airlines, tenants, FAA, TSA, LADBS, DWP, Caltrans, and LAWA departments. The team’s adaptability and collaborative approach have been essential in navigating the dynamic LAX environment and meeting the evolving needs of the airport and its users.
