Caltrans awarded this CMGC Contract to Myers-Shimmick, A Joint Venture. Pier footing extensions will be constructed for Pier 3 and Pier 4 in the San Gabriel River on three Bridges: I-405 Mainline Bridge (Br. No. 1185), SB I-605 to NB I-405 Connector Bridge (Br. No. 1737H), and SB I-405 to NB I-605 Connector Bridge (Br. No. 55-0413F). Each Pier will have additional Cast-in-Drilled Hole (CIDH) piles placed under the new footing extensions. The channel bottom will be excavated 17 ft (typical) around the pier footings and will be backfilled using rock slope protection material.
