Pioneer Bridge Emergency
July 17, 2018
Myers & Sons Construction was awarded a contract to rehabilitate sections of Highway 50, including the Sacramento River Viaduct, Jefferson Undercrossing, and associated ramps and connectors. The scope involved removal of the existing 3/8” Multi-Layer System (MLS) overlay using fine and micro milling, with handwork performed along concrete barriers where mechanical access was limited.
Following MLS removal, a 1-inch polyester concrete overlay—totaling 112,500 cubic feet—was placed to restore the bridge deck surface. Additional work included hot mix asphalt conforms, replacement of approach slabs, joint seal repairs, and new lane striping to complete the rehabilitation.
