Las Gallinas WWTP

March 1, 2021 This project involves maintaining continuous operation of an active wastewater treatment plant while executing major facility upgrades. Work includes demolition and removal of existing infrastructure, followed by construction of new site improvements. Key components include modifications to the existing headworks, construction of a new electrical building, pump station, anoxic and aeration basins, and installation of all associated mechanical and process equipment. Additional scope includes construction of new secondary clarifiers, upgrades to chlorine contact chambers, a new dechlorination chemical storage and dosing facility, and new mechanical thickeners. The project also includes installation of pond return pumps, recycled water treatment facility (RWTF) feed pumps, membrane skids, and distribution pumps. Site-wide improvements encompass grading, yard piping, flow meters, vaults, electrical systems, valves and actuators, paving, retaining walls, and concrete walkways. A new UV building and associated equipment is included as a bid alternative. All construction activities are closely coordinated with plant operators to ensure uninterrupted service and a smooth transition to upgraded systems.
